PURPOSE
This course covers the installation and administration of IBM HTTP Server and WebSphere Application Server for i5/OS. Topics include the use of the administrative interfaces for WebSphere Application Server, deploying various applications, gathering performance data, securing applications, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, and the network deployment environment.
AUDIENCE
This course is designed for administrators who need to install and configure WebSphere Application Server on an iSeries platform, install business applications, set up J2EE security for these applications, and run regular maintenance tasks.
PREREQUISITES
There are no prerequisites for this course.
OBJECTIVES
After completing this course, students should be able to:
– Explain WebSphere Application Server’s role in the WebSphere family of products
– Describe the architecture of WebSphere Application Server V6.1
– Install and configure WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server (powered by Apache) for i5/OS
– Explain the basic concepts of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition 1.4
– Assemble Java enterprise applications using WebSphere Application Server Toolkit (AST)
– Use WebSphere Application Server administrative tools to configure and manage enterprise applications
– Configure security for servers and application resources
– Configure and deploy enterprise applications
– View performance information about server and application components
– Use problem determination tools and log files to troubleshoot problems
– Describe architectural and administrative differences between a stand-alone application server and a multi-server WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment environment
– Use i5/OS save and restore commands to back up and recover WebSphere Application Server configuration data
